Hello

I currently use derive part concept when generation an assembly. I fequently use the structural shapes from the content file centre in my designs. My question is.

Is there a way to export a sketch from a component an import it into the structural shape (eg equal angle) so if I have to steel plates "X" apart I can adjust the length of the equal angle with out going into the parameters to change it.

Are you asking how to do this programmatically?

Do you know already if it's possible to do through the UI?

In general you should be able to just Copy/Paste sketch contents between parts. So I would try that.

Hello

I know you can copy and paste the sketch, however this does not make the component update when you change another. For example we design a side plate that has a SHS bolted perpendicular to it. The SHS has a flange welded to it, this flange has holes in it and is part of the SHS assembly, this flange is then bolted to the side plate. The holes for the side plate and flange need to be of the same pattern and the hole pattern is determined by what size SHS is used.

As the SHS is a content file centre component I wanted to see how I can link (like derived part) the sketch to the other items. I have now found a work around by linking the dimension parameters from one sketch to another., this works perfectly but requires a little bit of extra time to make it work.
