Can you export an .adsk file using Inventor API?

I want to automate the process of creating Revit family files (.rfa) by exporting a .adsk file from Inventor and importing it into Revit and saving it as a .rfa file.

I can't find any documentation on how to do this.

Is this supported?  If so, how do you do it?

Exporting an .adsk file is part of the functionality provided by the AEC Exchange add-in.  Unfortunately, it does not currently support an API and can't be driven from a program.  This is a known issue and needs to be addressed in the future.

I wish I could comment, but legally we're not able to discuss future functionality.  I will say that it is a high priority.

Inventor 2011 introduced an API for the BIM Exchange functionality within Inventor.
