Bulk Update of Inventor 2019 Files to 2025 with Custom iProperties

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working with Inventor and Vault 2025, and I need to migrate a database containing files originally created in Inventor 2019.

The issue:

These older files are missing some of the custom iProperties required by our current configuration in Inventor 2025. Fortunately, these properties are automatically created when the file is saved in Inventor 2025.

Here's the manual process I'm currently following for each file set (ipt/iam + idw):

  1. Set the files  (ipt or iam) to Quick Change in Vault.
  2. Open a 3D file in Inventor.
  3. Save it on my computer (which adds the missing iProperties)
  4. Send back the file to Vault and then release the file.
  5. Repeat the step 1 to 4 for the idw file.

While this process works, it's extremely time-consuming. I'm looking for a solution to:

  • Automate from a iam and all is content...
  • Or at least speed up the steps using a script, iLogic, Job Processor, or Vault/API tools.

Has anyone here dealt with a similar workflow or could guide me toward a more efficient approach?

I'd appreciate any tips—scripts, automation methods, third-party tools, or lessons learned.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Remy-intl,

Have you tried Task Scheduler to migrate files?
Inventor 2025 Help | Migrate files using Task Scheduler | Autodesk

Thanks,

James

I'll try chat gpt ilogic skills 🙂
