BOM sequence changed after assembly is saved

I've created an iLogic rule that numbers the BOM according to the browser tree.
In other words, by dragging the parts/sub assy's in the browser tree you can determine the structure of the BOM and with this the parts list on a drawing.
Nothing new in my CAD world, has been in my former CAD package for years.
Inventor has the annoying property of assigning a Parent Prefix when you do something in the BOM via iLogic, see:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ilogic-and-vb-net-forum/how-to-override-bom-itemnumber-witho...

I get around that by going through the BOM rows again, removing the Item number and having Inventor renumber the BOM.
That works fine, the order corresponds to the Browser tree, exactly what was intended.

Now I have the situation that the result of the BOM changes order as soon as the assembly is saved.
So after the rule has run, the order is intact and then changes when the assembly is saved
Also, if I manually re-sort and renumber the BOM, the order changes.
What is happening here?
Surely it can't be the case that I can have a BOM on the screen, which is sorted and renumbered through the tools and then changed after the file is saved?
Anyone have an idea, it's driving me crazy.
