Automating Import, Save, and Rename Process in Inventor and Vault

Hello forum,

I downloaded a parts catalog in .stp format.

I would like to save them as .ipt files in a folder under Vault and then rename them.

Would it be possible to automate all of this instead of doing it manually step by step ?

Manually, the steps are as follows:

Open Inventor > create a new part > import > select the part > save > choose the save path and fill in the various fields in the Data Sheet > Ok

And then under Vault:

Rename the part > add the name in the description of the Data Standard after the Part Number > Ok

I imagine that anything done manually with Inventor should be possible to achieve through programming, but I’ve never used iLogic/API before, and since there’s a part in Inventor and one in Vault, I’m not sure how to proceed.

Do you have any suggestions, please ?

Thanks in advance

You may be waiting for a long time for a response to this, as this would require your tester not only having Inventor 2024+ AND Vault Pro.

This Video goes over many different scenarios and shows code for each, maybe you can piece it together.
