Till today ANSYS didn't publish any information that can support newer version of Inventor. My opinion is that workbench communicate with same generation of Inventor and one earlier. When subscription was implemented in CAD software, they guide toa new way of working. You won't bother what is new, and what is compatible, we'll smoothly transit from one version to another. At some point they will stop using versions and only charge for use of the software.
