A great feature to add to Inventor Nastran would be to hold or activate contacts between subcases.
Here is a pinion with bearings mounted onto it. The contact between the bearings inner ring and that of the shaft journal is interference/no sliding. So for subcase 1, I only want to calculate what the interference is doing.
The second subcase would be for any load you wish to run. But now you need to be able to switch off the contacts of subcase 1, because you can add the results of the analysis in subcase 2 by means of an output file.
Currently this is not possible, meaning the interference analysis will be performed again by the solver.
Basically, being able to hold or activate contacts between subcase would make the analysis more accurate as you will be better able to simulate assembly procedures.
