I am modeling a new design for a head support for people with compromised neck tendons (see attached file).  My ultimate goal in this analysis is to simulate a 1 degree head rotation, then examine the deformation of the support AND determine how much torque the person's neck must produce in order to produce the rotation.

 

In my model, the user's skull is replaced by three solid "skull chunks" connected with rigid body connectors.  The connectors emanate from the center of rotation of the skull.  I have applied an enforced rotation of 1 degree about the Z-axis of the model.  The model runs fine and the results appear to be believable.  However, I cannot figure out how to determine the TORQUE required to generate the enforced rotation.  Since this is the torque that must be generated by the user's neck it is important for me to know this.  

 

So my question is, how can I determine the torque that must be applied in order to generate the enforced, 1 degree rotation about the Z axis?  Seems like this would be in the results somewhere but I have not found it.

Hello Scott,

 

There is a constraint at the same location where you added the enforced motion / rotation.

If you select that constraint, right mouse click and select SPC Summation, does that give you the torque (moment)?
