Standard Newton Raphson Method vs Modified Newton Raphson Method - Nonlinear Analysis

Hi guys.

Within a nonlinear analysis (static in my case) you can select the stiffness update method. The available options are:

-AUTO

-ITER

-SEMI

Looking at the Nastran documentation it is explained that:

Newton Raphson = ITER
Modified Newton Raphson = SEMI

Now my question is where would "KSTEP=MAXITER" be selected or changed? Is it in the NLPARM card?

If AUTO is selected, does Nastran determine which Newton Raphson method to use or does it implement a different stiffness update method (Quasi-Newton method or linear and constant stiffness iteration methods). Is the method chosen indicated somewhere in the output files? I've looked but couldn't seem to find it anywhere.

Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

Nastran 2025

Thank you

Regards
