Shell mesh incomplete/missing on some elements

Hi All,

I'm using Nastran In-Cad 2019.2, to do a FEA of a frame using shell elements (instead of beam elements).

I'm having trouble with the mesh missing from some elements. I've tried to delete the analysis using the instructions here twice - the first time it worked, but I later exited and re-entered the analysis environment, and the problem came back. The second time it just didn't work.

Steps to recreate the problem - Enter nastran environment, generate mid-surfaces, create idealizations (associate with geometry), generate mesh. The mesh is missing from some elements as shown in the images attached.

Each time I've tried this, the elements with the missing mesh is consistent (always the same ones). But different idealizations can also have missing meshes (visible, but not highlighted in image below).

Are there any suggestions as to why this is happening?

In this case, I will try creating a multi-body part derived from the assembly, but I would love to know why it happens.

Hi @gerrardhickson

This does generally happen if an Idealization for the part is missing, but as shown in your image the parts are already in the idealization, it may be a different issue. I could not reproduce the issue with few of the models we have. Please feel free to upload the model for us to look into.
