Mesh Generation Fails After Chamfering Rib Edge in Inventor Nastran

Please pay attention to the stiffening rib highlighted in red. When I leave the rib as a rectangular plate, the software can generate a mesh without any issues. However, when I chamfer the edge as shown in the second image, the software reports an error and fails to generate the mesh. I'm not sure why this happens, and I would appreciate any help from everyone.

Hi @kynykuko

Please try the menu "Manage > Update > Rebuild All" and "Update Mass". Then enter the Nastran environment and try meshing. Does it work now?

If it still fails to mesh, the question is when does it fail?

  • If it fails immediately or before finishing the surface mesh, a surface is corrupted. Sometimes changing the dimension slightly will allow the mesh to work.
  • If it completes the surface mesh but fails on the volume mesh, try a smaller mesh size.

If the mesh is still a problem, can you attach the file? (It looks like a part file, so just attach the .ipt file to the forum post.)
