Hi,
I am using Nastran 2021 and notice that often after refining the mesh, the new mesh doesn't update automatically and the old mesh remains on display. I have to manually turn off the visibility and then turn it on to see the new mesh. Is this a bug, or perhaps I have inadvertently changed some settings?
Solved! Go to Solution.
What do you mean with refining the mesh and how do you turn the visibility off and on? Does the number of elements and nodes change in the Nastran model tree before you turn the visibility off and on?
If you change some mesh settings an press OK the mesh should update automatically. If you add or change a mesh control you must update the mesh manually using the "Generate Mesh" function form the ribbon or context menue. In both cases the new mesh should show immediately in the graphics canvas without turning the visibility off and on.
Please have a look at the screen capture video below. After refining the mesh, I don't see finer mesh mapped automatically, but have to turn the visibility off and then on to see the refined mesh.
I have tagged @John_Holtz just in case this is a bug.
Looks like you have the Option for fast rendering aktive in the default settings.
Please uncheck this option if it is aktive and try again.
Thanks, you are right. I did turn this on to speed up rendering and turning it off updates the new mesh automatically. Strangely, the documentation doesn't mention about this side effect!

Is there a more detailed description elsewhere about what this option does?
Sorry, I don't know if this side effect is as designed or if it is unintentional and I don't know of any more detailed description about what this option does more than rendering the boundary condition glyphs unshaded.
