Droptest with concentrated mass

Hello,

I'm running a drop test of a device in Nonlinear Transient Response, because of the complexity I want to replace some components by adding rigid connectors and concentrated masses in order to reduce the size of the model.

Unfortunately the simulation fails at step 2, I tried to include the concentrated mass on the initial condition (velocity) but seems to be impossible.

Any suggestion on the parameters to make this work?

Best,

Esteban M

I have done a bit more testing and found out that it is required to select the central work point feature of the rigid body connector (where is located the concentrated mass).

The rigid body connector won't move as expected but the concentrated mass will, I can confirm it is making the difference because of the higher stresses by adding the concentrated mass compare to the simulation without them.

Happy New Year 2025, all the best wishes!!

Respectfully,

Esteban M.
