Defining spring acting on a surface for a shell model

Hi

I want to apply a spring that acts on the end surface of three flat plates that are touching the inner surface of a cylinder (this is a simplified model of what I want to do). From what I understand, it would be a grounded spring that will act in radial direction. How do I accomplish this?

Hello @Anonymous ,

Not completely sure what you are trying to accomplish, but I hope the videos below will help you.

In the first video I use the Split feature. When you create a mesh it will create a node on the crossing of the surfaces.

The springs will be connected to the nodes. If you don't want a spring being attached to 1 single node use the rigid body connector to make a connection between edges.

In the second video I use sketch points. If you add these points to the Mesh Control - Vertex and create a mesh, nodes will be created at the location of these sketch point. The springs will be connected to these nodes.
