Hi @michael_marx. Can you clarify a few things for me?

1. What are you asking for in the "specialsheetmetalbore" example? I'm not sure what the picture is trying to communicate.
2. What are you asking for in the "standardized hole patterns similar in mechanical" example? It seems to me we can create any of these patterns now with the Circular and Rectangular feature patterns. No?
3. When you say "place and link holes with all sorts of points (sketch points, edge points, workpoints)", placing holes on Sketch points and Workpoints is already possible. What do you mean by "edge points"? Can you post an example picture of this?
4. Can you post a sample picture of what you mean by "place and link holes [...] where the points not on the insert plane"?

1. i want the same thing in the hole dialog than in cut feature inside sheetmetal to have always perpendicular cutout also if the hole isn´t perpendicular.

2. i want to do those patterns inside the hole command as done inside mechanical. And how can you do a midpoint referenced pattern?

Only if you first create a hole  

3. have you ever tried to click to an edge point to insert a hole?

4. link holes to points which are not on the same plane! for example backside holes should be on the same position than frontside holes and i only want to draw one sketch!!

Those are all great ideas, thanks for clarifying for me. I'm on board with all of them.

The only one I'm not 100% clear on is #3. I'm not sure what you mean by "edge point". Do you mean the endpoint of an edge? Or midpoint of an edge? Or simply any point along an edge? And if so, how might you tell Inventor the direction of the hole? Could you post a sample picture of where you might want to do this just so I (and Autodesk) are 100% clear on what you want? Thanks!

@michael_marx, still would love to fully understand your idea. Can you clarify what you mean by "click to an edge point to insert a hole"? I'm just not sure what you mean by edge point. Can you provide a picture example?

In the hole dialog there is a positional option to create the hole on points I wan´t to be able to select edge end/midpoints directly without first creating workpoints.

1)Create list of hole Type. Some customers need more hole types than currently. A good idea is to add more hole types and add a function to create a new type for hole function. (like the presets.)

Currently, the customers have to create iFeature.

2) Need a parameter to set the delta of the thread bottom and hole bottom:

3) "show Dimensions" display the counterbore dimension but the hole value… Can you correct that…

I like these ideas.  While we wait to see if Autodesk will implement these requests, try the following.

1. iFeatures might let you make the custom holes you need.  I think that improving the Hole dialog is better, but iFeatures are available now.

2. How is this dimension measured and controlled on a real part?  Do you saw parts in half to confirm that the machinist met the requirement?  Or is this a reference dimension that you would like to see while creating the hole?  I'd rather have that distance be set by the hole spreadsheet, with an option to pick a Starting, Through, or Bottoming tap style.  Each of those different taps produce different threaded depths in a hole with a constant tap drill depth.

3. This looks like an error or bug that should be corrected in a service pack.

Thank you for your comment.

1) iFeatures works, but it will be great if it is directly in the Hole dialog.

2) I never told this dimension is required on the drawing… This dimension is useful in Hole function when the customer creates presets. Once presets, every time he creates a thread, he only need to change the thread length, the hole have the correct length automatically.
