Tube and Pipe Authoring tool changes on existing content should be possible

Dear all,

As we have seen, if you do a mistake e.g. on the end treatments and you want to change it and "import" it with Replace Family Template, it does not work.

Only workaround is to publish the family table completely new.

Please find any way to have this possibility to change any settings in the Authoring tool and/or in existing family tables.

Thank you, BR

Replace Family Template on Tube & Pipe fittings is not working. If you want to change the authoring info then you need to modify your iPart and publish it again, as a different family. Replace Family Template works (no errors) but the authoring info is not updated. Creating a new CC family is not freezable because you then need to change all T&P styles for existing runs/routes and point them to the new family. T&P Styles uses the CC UID to track and store fittings of each style.

@dgorsman, quote from Dan Szymanski in a comment on salariua's original idea:

@dan_szymanski wrote:

Is there any chance this can be broken into separate ideas?  As it is documented, there is no way for members to designate which Idea has more weight than the other (or which Inventor Engineering should do first).  As it stands we will treat this as a "Update T&P idea" and chip away at what we can when we can.  However community member kudos do play a heavy role in what we eventually implement.

Also from the guidelines:

We want to hear all of your great ideas, but not all together at once. In order to efficiently catalog and potentially implement ideas, we ask that you please limit each submission to 1 idea and create a new submission for each subsequent idea that you have.

So it's not spam... it's individually cataloging each of the overwhelming number of shortcomings in the Tube & Pipe environment Smiley Happy. ... Autodesk asked for it Smiley Wink

I posted a complete list of the ideas in a comment on the first request if you want to skim through it and see if any specific ideas sound useful to you.

Not arguing the need for changes, but there's still gotta be some common sense.  Dropping over a hundred-plus separately in one go isn't any better than a single omnibus post.  Otherwise it opens the doors to less-than-honorable intentions and we're right back at the same point.

I agree it's not ideal. But it's the best solution we have. It would be great if we could have "sub-ideas" where we create a single idea with multiple bullet points, each with their own Vote button, so we can make "overhaul" requests like these using a single idea post but still have the individualization that helps Autodesk gauge priority.

But I highly doubt that will ever happen. So the only way to give Autodesk what they want right now (a gauge of the volume of need for each individual enhancement) is to create each little enhancement in an overhaul idea as its own separate request. Some (probably most) of those will hardly receive any votes, if any at all. However, the 2 or 3 or 4 that do receive a lot of votes will do exactly what I'm guessing Adrian intended by doing this: get Autodesk to address the 2 or 3 or 4 most critically-needed enhancements first. And then the next 2 or 3 will follow. And so on.

As cluttering and annoying as it is right now, this is the only way to get the prioritization ball rolling for a module that very desperately needs it.

Autodesk can add more granularity and better structuring of the new ideas.

Few days after and everything is "covered" by the newer ideas that are posted. Unless you are a diligent user, you will miss out potentially ideas you will vote for.

I suggested many times doing this, probably the best way is to follow Help's structure, with a way to post a new idea from there.

I would rather appreciate @salariua efforts, not his fault the site structure is the way it is.
