Threading improvements for Inventor CAM and Fusion 360

Threading improvements for Inventor CAM and Fusion 360

Major improvement to threading passes tab and tool library for Inventor CAM.

Please add:

*Infeed Modes are good, but a last pass depth is needed.

*Finish Passes check box and input box for a value to be added for number of finish passes required.

*Finish Diameter- OD for External and ID for internal- This is useful if you are threading based on basic part diameter but need to top off threads.

FIX THE tool library for Threading Insert Tab.

*Thread Pitch is not required that is set in the passes tab.

*Need a distance for, Tool tip center for the side if the insert. This if for the simulation collision.

*The Shape Drop down need to be representative of all the current inserts available.

*Move or make the boxes for width and thickness correct for the shape selected.

*Need tool tip geometry input, Nose radius, and for tool with a flat tip width and distance to theoretical point.

*Distance from tool tip to holder.

---Now that the tool library is fixed you can finish the Threading Passes Tab.

*Add Minor Diameter, major diameter will come from the model. Minor diameter and thread depth is need for nonstandard thread profiles or if someone wants to input this information.

*Finish allowance. This will allow the machinist to change tool offset at the machine to get final size if required.

--The rest of the information should be calculated based on standards of thread pitch and pitch diameter. Knowing the tool tip geometry, the system can calculate the correct depth of cut and minor diameter based on the thread entered when creating the model. Example Type ANSI, Size 1/4, Designation 1/4-20, Class 3A. Or allow the thread specs to be entered in the passes tab or just Pitch Diameter.

for the thread calculations you will only need to calculate for the highest-class thread in each type this will also give the machinist the largest thread possible for any class or diameter.

If this was done, you would have the best threading cam on the market.
