Show painted surfaces of a part in a drawing

We have some parts that we need to show painted surfaces for. Right now, we will make a sketch, draw a line offset off the face that would be painted, change the sketch to be a dashed line, and make a note that says the line represents the painted surface. It would be nice if there was a simpler way of showing which faces of the part will be painted or if we could automate the current process in some way.

In the model, we will usually change the color of the surface to a different color to make it easier for whoever is making the drawings to see which face needs to be called out as getting painted. The color does not then translate to the dwg though.

If you're already "painting" the model, why don't you just show some shaded views on the drawing to clarify the faces that get painted, instead of jumping through a bunch of hoops with sketches and such?  Even if you have to create some extra views so your main views are still line views, it would be easier than what you seem to be doing now.

We don't always make these parts in-house so we have vendors who request a paint-line to be shown on the drawings.

Related idea: A real surface treatment/finish/coating (paint) tool. Once the "Surface Treatment" tool was used to apply paint to the appropriate faces, there could perhaps be a drawing tool for highlighting these faces in some way, even in non-shaded Views.
