Show me where Soft spring; has been added during FEM

I want the option of Inventor telling me where and how it has applied "Soft spring" in FEM calculations (Stress Analysis).

I managed to stupidly post this in general discussion at first, so if you want to read that then here you go,

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/show-where-soft-spring-is-added-when-runnign-a-fea-simu...

Have a nice day.

Why did my " " marks get spelled out as " in the header?

Not sure, but you can click "Report" and type out a message to notify the moderators, and they can fix it for you.

The general discussion kept offering him fixes. He has a point that often it is monumental task to find the illusive contact that is needed. It is easy when the part is displaced significantly. But when it is a small displacement it is not as visible.

To know the size and the nature of the dof is important and identifying the soft springs would make it easier and simpler. It may be that a different spring or rate is appropriate.

I found the other thread first when looking for the same type of fix.  There are many cases where it would help to see this.  It's been said in the other thread, but this is particularly true when modeling assemblies with sliding or separation joints.  It get's increasingly harder to check all DOF and there are cases where its a rather small amount of displacement. It can be tricky to get all forces (or force pairs), contacts and constraints right so that the simulation can still be realistic.

Additionally, it would be good if the soft spring was available to review without completing the simulation.  I.E., I would like to review the soft spring results as soon as the simulation determines one is needed.  I've noticed that solutions with soft springs take longer to complete. (Which makes sense since it takes longer for a solution to converge).  If I don't want the soft spring to begin with, I'm forced waiting that extra time to discover the issue that the simulation has already found.  If it takes a few iteration's to work out all the bugs, that can be quite a bit of extra waiting and is very disruptive to the work flow.

Please don't expect Autodesk to do anything about this idea or any others in the FEA space. They are not interested in fixing bugs in this environment let alone create new features.
