Real Thread Modeled

Real Thread Modeled

Maybe there are already similar ideas..

But.

If you want a real modeled thread in Inventor what do you do?

1- you have to model it by yourself (sketch...coil/sweep, etc)  (db18cec69d42acd83a8a8fb084e50d4f

2- you have to use a third part app called "coolOrange threadModeler". ( We-think-Tired-yawning-surprised

But...why?emojipedia-colbert-emoji-sample

We (I) would like to see this!

When will 3D thread modeling be implemented in Inventor?
The request dates from 2016, we are in 2024, it is time to wake up and today many professionals use 3D printing (plastic, metal, etc.) which requires representing these elements in order to be able to print them.
This is a function that for me should have been present for a long time, especially since competitors offer it in their software (Solidworks, to name just one, has this function).
Do we have to switch to the competition to be able to obtain this function natively?
So yes, there is an app that does this but you have to "tweak" it for it to work on the 2024 version and it is quite limited in terms of the type of threads/tappings.
Yes, Fusion has the function but I don't use it professionally because it is far too limited for my needs and I don't see myself switching from one application to another during my design phases!!
I hope that a future update will integrate this function which for me is sorely lacking in Inventor!!

100% agree! Our 180 Inventor engineers ask for this functionality daily! And did that for years. Autodesk, this is to limp handling of this functionality! All your Inventor customers need this, and it is already there. Just implement it!

Pretty strange that Autodesk is quite in this case?????

😍Great news, however "future consideration" is very open ended

What we really need is an implementation date / release version to look forward to

One feature that I would love to see in Inventor is the option to cut threads into the part not only visually (as it is now) but also physically. I use a 3D printer for printing threads sometimes and .stl files do not register the visual threads. It is very annoying to cut the threads manually, not to mention the extra time needed. With the rise of 3D printing in general, I am honestly suprised that this feature wasn't added a long time ago.

100% agree. The "viewed" threads are silly.

I am also so extremly surprised that Autodesk at all not so ever respond to all their users and customers asking for this feature / function. Autodesk Inventor PROFESSIONAL is used designing Mechanical products all over the World. And from there, 3D printere Are getting more and more normal to be used in protype design and production.
And there we Are all want to also print the threads.

So Autodesk, as requested for several years.. Why this total silence making Inventor as Even better and give all your customers making better products, faster?

If Autodesk finally includes this, it needs to be better than what is in Fusion 360, Fusions threads don't look like, where as Cool Orange threads do, but the "MAJOR" drawback to using Cool Orange is that the threads are not "updatable"

...and we need pipe threads too.

For Inventor 2025 you have to change the line to 31:

<SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>31.

Its funny as we debate whether or not to skip the 2025 release, the discussion turns to modeled threads. "If 2025 had modeled threads we'd switch as soon as possible". I'd have an entire department rejoicing. If CoolOrange can write an app to do it, why can't the Inventor team. Oh, but make the threads update.

Pretty much the title. it would be nice if the thread tool provided a selectable option cut an actual thread into the part - rather than slapping a texture on it.

This has been an ongoing request for a LONG time. There's already a LONG thread on this and was just recently changed to "considering" or something

 Future consideration. This is awesome!

There are so many requests for this. It would be nice to compile all of them and see how many votes, comments, and likes there are.

I think Autodesk has denied this functionality? Or is there any New consideration?

@steinar_sorem Last I saw there was one ideas post where it was changed to "future consideration" or something like that.
