Propagate Features to Parts similar to solidworks and featureMigrator Add on By cool Orange

Request to have it standard to be able to propagate a feature from an assembly to a part.

The workflow sometimes requires to view the overall assembly to make decisions to individual parts.

This feature would greatly speed up the design process from the standard project sketch method.

I have attached a link to an outdated add on that seems to do the exact task .

https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=4113747616755499758&appLang=en&os=Win64

Solidworks short video link to reference:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Uw9fw9sKRc

In my opinion I believe that if Autodesk Inventor wants to be a solid competitor to Solidworks then similar or competitive features should be accessible

Thanks,

Joel

Hi @Anonymous. I believe this identical to this request: Smart Cutout Parts. If so, please consider voting for the original idea to help get this suggestion recognized. Thanks!

@DRoam, done.

sorry I didn't find it while submitting the idea.

We're designing allot of cylinders where a change of work prep requires redesigning the order of the certain machining requirements. This requires moving (machining) features from assembly level to part level, however this costs a lot of time in Inventor since every features has to be redone. It is possible to copy paste sketches, but it would be much nicer when you can just drag a features to other levels (part or other machining level). The same would be nice for weld features. At this moment not even reordering the features within an assembly level is possible..

In addition to being a double-post (here is the "twin"), this is also a duplicate. Please vote for the master idea here: Push/Demote Assembly Features to the Part/IPT level.

If it can be done with Bolted Connection, why can't it be done manually?

I too have a problem with trying to edit one part of an Assembly

Why cant this be possible. I have demoted a part but that changes the assembly

I dont know for welding is it is possible, but with features it is with
coolorange add-on. It is free and working ok.

Hi,

sorry to resume an old thread but was this feature ever implemented in Inventor?

I have an assembly with a patch panel and several connectors to be mounted on it. I have a 3D model for each connector but the cutout on the panel is different from the cross section of the connector.

Is there a way to specify the cutout shape and dimensions for a part?

No this idea hasn't been implemented. If you haven't already or if have colleagues that need this feature please get them to vote on this idea.

The Woodwork for Inventor plugin has the ability to a 'cut features' to components, which are then removed with a special version of the Sculpt tool.

It would be great to see this in the core product!

Hi Paul,
This will be a great addition to Inventor indeed. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you for sharing.
Best regards,

It would be a great benefit, if we can prepare cutting geometry in parts.

If we insert this parts in a assembly we only have to select the part with the cutting geomeotry and the part to cut.

Hello,

This is a very needed feature.

I spent weeks/months looking for ways to do it without having to buy any add-ons.

It seem people have been talking about it for years but no one gave a straight forward answer HOW TO.

I really hope this idea will be looked at!

Hello S_Verbek

This is brilliant!

Exactly what I was looking for.

One question however. Is it possible to write more cut commands for one part? In example if part has three cuts on different faces and different depths. Something like cut1,cut2,cut3

Thank you very much

Hello Eddie,

at the moment only one geometry is possible, but you can create multiple extrusions with different heights in a solid.

This is perfect!
