Propagate Features to Parts similar to solidworks and featureMigrator Add on By cool Orange

Request to have it standard to be able to propagate a feature from an assembly to a part.

The workflow sometimes requires to view the overall assembly to make decisions to individual parts.

This feature would greatly speed up the design process from the standard project sketch method.

I have attached a link to an outdated add on that seems to do the exact task .

https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=4113747616755499758&appLang=en&os=Win64

Solidworks short video link to reference:

In my opinion I believe that if Autodesk Inventor wants to be a solid competitor to Solidworks then similar or competitive features should be accessible

Thanks,

Joel

very well done S_Verbek!

thank you very much for such a useful tool, I was looking for this for years!

I have only one suggestion to you:

can you use a surface as cutting geometry?

in your way the solid used adds mass to the part. and this could be a huge problem.

I'd like to use your tool for airplane instrument panel and, you know, on airplanes weight is very important.

thank you

bye

 sorry man.

I found that there is an option to exclude solid/solids from the weight calculation.

so I can say that your tool is very COOL!

THANK YOU AGAIN

hello again,

I correct myself...

unfortunately that option is not persistent, once you close the iProperties windows it sets the mass calculation for all the solids.

when you ask for mass in the assembly is a mess!

Hi,

It is a very useful tool. However it isn't finished yet...

Feature is very limited and has a lot of issues...

If part is made of few bodies it only cuts one of them

Also you cut two different parts one of them can't be adaptive. So cut stays in where it is and doesn't move with cutting tool.

I ended up going back to sculpt command as cut tool wasn't very reliable

Let just hope Autodesk will take this idea and develop a new tool. Finally...

Thank you

It's time to update this request, maybe Autodedesk about 8 years before it arrives. In the end, it speeds up the work of an engineer many times over. Engineers ask you to vote for it, believe me, then you will be glad if it appears, your work will accelerate at times!

It would be very helpful if you would like this feature that you vote.

Apparently that is the only way to get traction to potentially add this.

Thanks!
