Part Rotation Using 3D Mouse

Part Rotation Using 3D Mouse

When manipulating parts/sub-assemblies in a larger assembly, the 'Rotate Component' feature is useful.

However, it would be greatly enhanced if Inventor allowed a 3D mouse to also control this function.  If there was a way to toggle between view control and part rotation with the 3D mouse, it would allow quick part insertion and alignment (instead of pressing 'g' and "pulling" the part into a correct alignment).  I'd really appreciate this feature when working through fitment issues in assemblies.

Users rejoice, productivity increases, profits skyrocket.

This has my vote as well. Both Solid Edge and SolidWorks already support this. Huge disappointment moving to Inventor and discovering that I can't do this anymore.

It's exceptionally useful when I'm placing a component with a lot of difficult constraints and I want to get it oriented approximately correctly ahead of time so that the constraints snap properly.

Also useful when putting together an assembly of parts that you haven't modeled yourself, to get them lined up and check fitment to make sure you're understanding properly how they all go together.

I'm forced to use Inventor (used SolidWorks before), this feature is really missed a lot!!
