Option to Reuse Appearance When Duplicating an Inventor Material

Good afternoon!  I was recently working with a customer who noticed that every time she duplicated a material in Inventor it automatically generated a new appearance as well.  We would like to see an option where a user can choose to reuse the pre-existing appearance or generate a new one.  Please see the attached Screencast for more information.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.  Hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Hi Pete,

It's a little hard to discover, but you can click on the two little circulating arrows to 'replace' an appearance.

Thanks @PaulMunford!  This is a great way to get the old appearance back, so I'm glad you pointed that out.  I'd still like to see an option where I can just retain the original material.  Nice to save some clicks if possible 🙂

Voted.  It's very easy  (as already stated) to switch back to the original Appearance.  But it's annoying to need to do so in the first place.

In my opinion, it should default to keeping the same Appearance, and the option would be to replace it with a new one.

Very good suggestion! It is impractical to do something and then have to change it later. If you're not careful, you'll end up with a lot of superfluous appearances, which you'll then transfer to the external library.
