More dim text placement freedom

More dim text placement freedom

Is there a way to make the text for the 2.500 dim go in between the lines….without changing the text size? There’s plenty of room, and I can even get the text to appear there when I’m moving it for a split second, but it won’t stay.

Also, I find it difficult to place dims as illustrated below,,,,and after placing them, if I move them at all it goes back to the other way.

This might seem like a obvious and silly question. Have you tried editing the dimension style?

Go to your manage tab > Styles Editor > Dimension > Text Tab

I found that when I change the following settings I am able to move my dimensions freely.

Please let me know if this helps 😃

Yes, I've edited the dimension style, however the settings you highlight(which is how mine is set) doesn't change any of the above issues, I can only get the dims to fit in the lines when I edit these settings (see below), however I don't want to have to fudge these settings, for this changes the fit and placement of other dimensions within the drawing, and particularly changing those setting to get text to fit in a vertical dimension changes things in regards to a horizontal dimension as well.

I'd just like it if there was a bunch more freedom in placing dims and their text. I guess....see Solid Edge. Heck, it'll let you put the dim text in between those lines even if the text itself is larger than the gap between the lines.
