Many axes of rotation in .ipn presentation

Many axes of rotation in .ipn presentation

In the presentation, when moving the components apart in the rotation mode, selecting multiple components gives you the ability to rotate only around one axis. In the example below, if I would like to rotate simultaneously and extend many bolts around THEIR own axis, it will not work, because they will rotate in a circle and not each around their axis. Only one of them - selected by default firstly - will rotate around its axis.

I suggest adding an option to select the axis of rotation for each component.

Hello Maciej,

If I'm understanding you.

I think you just need to rotate them individually and group the rotations together.

You can also create a linear movement with the correct distance per revolution & number of revolutions.

Then link them all together and show them being unscrewed and your boss will be delighted.

Hope I've helped.

Jim

@maciej_stawowski  I believe that @Anonymous suggestion is the best option.

In the majority of presentations I have seen, the bolts have just been placed without a "screwing" action. While it would be really neat if they would be able to screw them in like you want to, I think AutoDesk is asking the question "will most people use this?" In reality, for most people, the value added to the presentation would likely be outweighed by the cost of the time to produce it. In other words, even if this feature were available, I think most users would say "it will take too much time to add this animation, and the basic action of placing the bolt is all I need to show".

The sales team are " beside themselves " when they see this. It just adds that bit of finesse to their sales presentations.

Hi @Anonymous ,

The thing is that it will be a pleasure to do the rotation of all screws in one operation - not exiting every time from the function. I know that I can do the same operation many times - for every screw and then group these operations on the time axis. For objects with many repetitive elements (like screws in this example) it would be a great convenience.

Best regards,

Hi Maciej Stawowski,

Yes I agree a single multifunction tool would be great but as el_jefe_de_steak said,

How much trouble and cost would it be to develop one.

I currently have very little use for it as I hardly ever get involved with the sales team and if there was one I'd probably forget how to use it.

Maybe once per year I get involved with this sort of thing.

I can see you're fully aware of the long-winded ways to do it so I'll bid you a good day.

😊

Jim
