Level of deatail - Relashionship between parts and positions

Level of deatail - Relashionship between parts and positions

LOD = Level of Detail

Connecting parts using LOD task, the parts could assume different positions and/or suppressing parts as per you request the LOD. You link what you need and all changes are done only swaping the LODs. Ex:

Assembling with A B C parts

LOD 1 = A mating parallel B with 20mm far from each. C suppressed

LOD 2 = A mating parallel C with 30mm far from each. B suppressed

LOD 3 = C mating concentrical B with  10mm far from each. A suppressed

Resume: You put all parts you need in an assembly, raise all constraints, raise the LODs, only turn it on/off parts and constrains per LOD created, and it changes automaticallyLOD Issue.jpg

Fortunately, I think the functionality you're needing already exists as iAssemblies. You can specify suppression of parts as well as constraint values.

1st of all thanks for the reply.
I'll try the iAssembly but, the idea is to get faster.

Doing this (avoiding the command) it'll be faster.
You do the configuration that you want only using the left tree.
You rotate the model or assembly and change settings directly on the left tree.

Imagine having to open the command all time I need to change any parameter.
This happened in a 4 parts assembly. And if it were in a 30parts assy?

In a 30parts assy, you could go easily thru the left tree and change it because you got the name and also the colored figure.
Much more easy (taskly and visualy).

Resuming:
1 - You create the Level Of Detail (A)
2 - Create the mates
3 - Create the new LODetail (B)
4 - Suppress all mates (A) you use to have
5 - Create new mates
6 - Go to LOD (A) and suppress all (B) mates.
OBS: Same with the parts

Done... all on the tree

I don't think the workflow you're proposing is any faster or easier than an iAssembly.

Once you convert your assembly to an iAssembly, if you change to "Edit Member" mode, any changes you make as far as suppression (actually it's called "exclude" for an iAssembly) or creating/editing of mates will only be saved to that member.

In fact, this is even better than linking constraints with LODs because with iAssemblies, you have the iAssembly table which you can edit within Excel and bulk-edit several members as necessary. The iAssembly tool is very powerful, I'd suggest you look into it.

If you wish, you could post a question in the general forum for some help in how to get iAssemblies to accomplish you needs: Inventor General Discussion

Hey, good morning and thank you back again.

I've done the iAssembly with success and it had respected the mates as per I changed the configuration.

The construction is as per you told me. There's no big mystery to do that but, can be more simple.
The way I've explained, I've already used once. And it was faster. Believe.

Other thing is, I also could create a table from the left tree after the configs done.

But anyway. It's just an improvement that I think that it'll be decrease worktime.
Again, thank you so much for the reply. It worked.

And also thanks Autodesk for the space. It's really helpfull

Cheers.

Not a problem, glad the iAssembly will work for you. Just out of curiosity, which software package has the functionality you're talking about? Solidworks?

Hey. Good morning.

Yes it is.
TopSolid also does this task
