iLogic Form Docking

It would be a nice improvement to be able to dock an iLogic form into a model browser on a part that is being used as a template. Intended for parts that have a very short model browser and will not be heavily modified repeatedly. This would save a few clicks and would be helpful in other scenarios as well.

It would also be nice to be able to dock form(s) from a .ipt onto the model browser of an assembly. This would allow parts to show different sizes or situations of a part within the assembly without going back and forth between the assembly and .ipt.

I'm sure there are workarounds and other ways to achieve this, but it would be nice if it were as simple as stated above.

Hi @kkamperBQADP.  I was involved in a discussion on the Inventor Programming Forum a while back that included a lot of thoughts & ideas about pinning or docking a form somewhere around the edges of Inventor's modeling screen.  While some of that is normally possible to manage while utilizing a custom Inventor add-in, there are a few options which are a bit less complex, but maybe a bit less optimal at the same time.  I will post a Link to one of my posts within that discussion below.  That specific reply not only contained a lot of information, but a few text file type attachments also, which contain example code that could be used in iLogic rules.  Early on in that discussion, I mentioned that we can customize the area within the 'Forms' sub-tab of the iLogic dockablewindow similar to editing an iLogic form itself, but there were some restrictions involved in that situation, such as not being able to add fields for Parameters or iProperties directly to it, like we can in 'regular' forms.  We also have the option to create our own 'Windows Form', which would give us more control, but is much more complex.  But the main point I made in that reply was that we could put one of our own simple iLogic forms into its own DockableWinodow in Inventor, which allows it to be 'docked'.  It is still not 'ideal', but can be an eye opening throught, if you have never heard of that ability before.  Some Inventor add-ins create and manage their own custom forms, which are not 'iLogic' forms, then create and manage a DockableWindow for that Form within Inventor, which can be nice.  I have not ventured down the add-in route yet myself, due to very strict security policies where I work.

Thank you for the reply. I understand what you are saying about add ins and iLogic rules to achieve a similar result. I am trying to avoid another work around for a feature that I would expect would be simple to implement.
