I use a lot of electrical motors with a cable in a fixed length. It could be nice if I was able to use the same motor in different assemblies but with different cable path. If I could "bend" the cable and constrain it in different ways in different assemblies without having different part numbers/file names. Another example, a sticker I can wrap around a range of cylinder with different diameters.

Sometimes the colors assigned with Separate Colors to the components are a bit too similar. It would be good if you could just "scramble" the values somehow. An additional option like this: For example, if I said "Let's rework the green machine" - which one would you think I referred to? 😄 Blue, yellow and purple are a lot easier to differentiate. 👍

Imagine you mark an element in an assembly and a small dialog box pops up at the side of your screen. In it there are selectable properties, like name, export parameters, the amount of this element in this assembly, the constraints. And you would be able the edit those properties in that dialog box, without searching in the model browser. In big assemblies, this would be very helpful.

When you open Measure in Tab 1 and let it be open, then opens Tab 2 and press "Done" in Measure, Inventor jumps back to Tab 1. I know the workaround is to press the small cross in the upper left, next to the header. But to me that just doesn't seem to make sense. I don't see the value of Inventor jumping back to the tab which measure was opened? Why not just make Done and the cross do the same thing?

In the context of developing and debugging with iLogic in Autodesk Inventor, it’s common to execute rules repeatedly to test different conditions. Currently, the iLogic Logger (Logger.Info, Logger.Error, etc.) retains all messages from previous runs without offering any way to clear it via code. Proposal Introduce a method such as Logger.Clear() or Logger.Reset() that allows the log to be cleared at the beginning of a rule. This would help: Keep the log clean and readable during frequent testing. Avoid confusion between old and new messages. Support professional, automated logging workflows. This feature would enhance the experience for power users and developers, giving them better control and clarity when monitoring rule execution.

In drawings we can set the selection priority (edge/feature/body/part) and filter (all/layout/detail/custom). But the active selection Priority and active filter is not highlighted. Please Autodesk, highlight the active menuentries or add a checkbox to see, which is active.

We can select to place point on each quadrant of a circle see below: But when placing dimension we cannot select the quadrants of it. Can this function be added?

We have a large drawing template (26 sheets total) that always presents the shown error message whenever drawings created with it are subsequently exported to .pdf file format. The painstaking part is doing the necessary detective work on 26 drawing sheets, every single note and title block element, in order to find the offending element with the unmappable font style. Please add a search/query tool in Inventor to allow just this type of detective work, only in much quicker fashion. Being able to search all elements by assigned attributes such as text font style, line type, assigned color, linked parameter, etc, would be extremely helpful. Thank you.

There is some space to improve extension lines of Dimension between Concentric Arcs. If dimensioning arcs, there are the extension lines automatically created, when the dimension is placed out of the arc. But if you try to create the dimension between two concentric arcs, the extension line is not created. You are able to create the dimension only in area between of arcs. Otherwise the extension lines have to be sketched manually.

Hey y'all, I need to draw some spiral over spiral as in wrap around fins coil up in the coil tube. This is the most creative way I did but still doesn't match with the pitch, thickness of the fins, and the overall diameter of the fin. I cannot use the thread feature for the coil needless to say wrap around the coil. Can your development team look into this feature? Ying

I always have to guess whether I need to use the horizontal or the vertical constrain when sketching, since it's relative to the global coordinate system. After using other 3D softwares I've relied on that the vertical and horizontal constrains were placed relative to the orientation of the view. I don't find it efficient having to always keep track of the global coordination system when sketching, since I often rotate or orient parts and drawings. It just bugs me a lot every time I select the "wrong" option even though it's "right" choice for my exact view. Or even rework those constrains entirely. When sketching, I don't care to which coordinate system those points are vertical or horizontal, they just have to be in-line with each other.

After editing the parts list, you must hit ok or apply, to save changes. If you decide to right click and open a part from the part lists, the parts list closes without saving changes. It would be nice to prompt the user to save their changes before exiting the parts list. There has been way too many times that I have made a lot of changes to the parts list, and then I decide to right click on a part to open it to make a change to the properties that relate to the parts list, and I forget to hit apply, and the parts list closes without saving.

When using ORBIT or FREE ROTATE, while pressing LMB on a plane, show how many degrees had been rotated (right hand rule) in respective axis. Best use when looking at specific plane, to easily approximate to wanted position without needing to use contraints.

When placing and constraining components in an assembly Inventor seems to assume control of the choice of mate or flush constraint depending on the relative positions of the parts at the time, irrespective of what choice I made at the start of the command. Someone somewhere may like this feature, I find it intensely irritating and time-wasting. Is there a setting somewhere to disable this unwelcome interference? if not can it please be added?

Many times when a project consists of several sheets and need to refer from one to the other would be easier if there is an option for simultaneous viewing all sheets. Original Author: kpapjim

Currently when creating holes, we have the options for Drilled, Counterbore, Spot face and Countersunk from the top only. It could be beneficial to have these same options to add features to the bottom of the same hole. As requested by : Anonymous on 5/9/2013

Original Author: MattH_Work Whilst I appreciate that we cannot move features up & down the browser without changing the Part (we are free to move components up & down in the Assembly, therefore browser folder 'restructurng' has no impact), it would be nice to have a second browser (ala the Vault browser) where we can sort, reorder, add to folders, the content of a file (group all extrusions, revolves, sketches etc) Even if this was just a visual display of the 'sorted' feature tree with no editing capability (maybe a right click option to 'Goto Feature' in main browser for editing) it would make it easier for finding, renaming etc

The Content Center urgently needs Imperial studs. Our team has successfully developed these studs using the metric stud family supplied by the Inventor Content Center to ensure functionality. However, we are currently facing non-fatal but inconvenient errors when placing these studs. I am more than happy to share the Imperial family we have created to help expedite development. The functions we are seeking include hole recognition, dynamic adjustment, and pattern recognition.

It would be truly helpful to have the possibility to insert standard bolted connections to models within frame generator. I know that there is software like Tekla structures and Autodesk structual detailing, but you don't have to design whole buildings before it is necessary to use bolted connections. Most smaller scale structures needs to be shipped in containers and assembled on site. Original Author: Anonymous on Nov 25, 2013

I think it would be nice to have a slot feature in the hole/thread command for modeling. What that would look like; You select where you would want the center points for the radius, and you could pick within the menu, the distance (center to center, which could already be covered by the pre dimensioned points), radius of arc, and depth of slot. It would streamline drawings also as clicking the hole/thread dim could pull up its needed radius, depth, and center to center length, which would combine 3 different processes into one. To expand upon the drawing part, if you already have an ordinate set created with dims along the same axis as the slot being created, you could click an option to have the center-to-center dims to be incorporated into said ordinate set. Thank you!
