I work for a large global engineering company.  Our largest customer is requesting that we submit final documentation in the form of a JT model.  This single model shall contain all PMI necessary to make-up for no longer receiving 2D deliverables.  BOM data, Machine Layout Annotations and dimensions, Setup dims, detail drawings containing material callouts, GD&T, titleblock info... etc. As of right now, Inventor will only export the top level.  This will create a major problem for my company providing final docs to our largest customer.  Other customers are starting to ask for this as well. Problem: When placing multiple instances of the same iAssembly member, all instances share the same iMate angle value. Changing the angle affects ALL instances, not just one. This makes iMates unusable for rotational positioning in piping/mechanical systems where identical fittings need different orientations.   Request: Allow iMate angle constraints to accept per-instance offset values at placement time, similar to how Content Center parts allow instance-specific parameters.   Use Case: Flanged pipe fittings (45° elbows, tees, etc.) where bolt holes must align but each fitting rotates to a different position. Currently forced to create hundreds of rows (one per size/angle combination) or abandon iMates entirely   I have keyed the size  of the fitting and the angle of the imate in the iassembly table. If I could change the angle when setting the part or after the fact by editing the iassembly table would be huge. Am I the first with this problem?   Show More

If I select a part and have "auto scroll" activated in the three, the part is selected and shown. If i select "modeling tab" in the three and select "select feature priority". Then I can select any feature and it will show it in the three.   BUT! When trying the same in a weld bead it only marks the "bead folder".   Showing a video here. Instead I have to scroll up and down and drag the pointer over each bead to find the one I want to adjust.   Please make the feature three highlight the bead I'm pointing at! Show More

Hi there,   currrently Inventor is lacking the abilitiy to export directly into the IFC format including iProperties, especially user defined i-properties. There are multiple possibilities to set check marks inside Inventor, but this should be only relevant for exporting into a Revit file. If a mechanical designer has to deliver IFC-files to their customer, the only help today is to 1) use a 3rd party add-in e.g. from the Autodesk store 2) user Revit in adition to convert the rvt-file to ifc.   There has to be a possibility to include iProperties (please all of them, userdefinied, standard, instance) into an IFC-file.   Best regards, Kay Show More

I would like to request that we have a changeable feature to adjust where the extend start for a hole terminates. We deal with extruded aluminum products that have a variety of connectors that are needed to fasten them together. I am constantly having to make a secondary pass thru hole over the countersunk hole that is on the inside of the groove chamber, see attachment. Please add a feature to drag and type in a numerical value as you do for the depth so we can extend to the outside of the extrusion when there is no material between the surfaces. Thanks! Show More

I guess I don't even have to explain it anymore, since it has been requested a thousand times already. But after years of requests, can we finally add SW width constraint? It would be the most significant update in years, after many updates with useless functions that don't really add to the user friendliness. Speaking of user friendliness, there is still a lot more that Inventor can learn from Solidworks. Not to criticize inventor, but I have the feeling there are to focused on special features and to little on everyday user friendliness. Show More

Why can I not connect a regular note without leader so it follows a view when its moved. I use a workaround that sometimes works and sometimes the note disappears when I hide the remove the leader.   Show More

It would be a nice improvement to be able to dock an iLogic form into a model browser on a part that is being used as a template. Intended for parts that have a very short model browser and will not be heavily modified repeatedly. This would save a few clicks and would be helpful in other scenarios as well.   It would also be nice to be able to dock form(s) from a .ipt onto the model browser of an assembly. This would allow parts to show different sizes or situations of a part within the assembly without going back and forth between the assembly and .ipt.   I'm sure there are workarounds and other ways to achieve this, but it would be nice if it were as simple as stated above. when can we finally get an update on the measurement tool. It is extremely limited in functionality. There is no way to measure the max distance (workarounds like creating and projecting edges is not acceptable) , there is not way to measure in a particular vector direction for example in the vector of an edge (workarounds like creating planes and axes are not acceptable ). Please please please learn from catia. their measurement tool is so intuitive and powerful that using inventors feels like using toy scissors after using a light saber. I know the coders are smart enough to implement this, but are the program managers brave enough to green light it? Show More

This is perhaps a rather minor thing but occurs frequently enough for me to make an idea to eventually get it changed.   So, when you have a section view active in an assembly and place a new component in it, the newly placed component very often ends up on the non-visible side of the section plane. It forces me to either undo the placement and do it again with more care (turning the model before placing it), or delete the section plane, move the component (by adding constraints), and then turn on the section view again.   The idea would be that inventor checks if the part being placed is about to go end up on the wrong side of the section plane and if so, moves it to the closest point where it's still at least partly visible, i.e. on the active section plane. It would save me from at least some unnecessary hassle.  Show More

Good morning, I noticed that there is no option to mark on the drawing the hole type by referencing the name of the saved preset. This feature would be useful when dealing with components that have special pre-holes, for example for press-fit bushings on a 3D-printed part. In real situations, the operator looking at the drawing does not directly see the preset name ‘M3 self-tapping bushings,’ but only the depth and diameter. It is therefore necessary to open the hole annotation every time and manually write the type of bushing to be used. Show More

We just moved from Inventor 2024 to the new version Inventor 2026 and when we opened older parts, we found that there was an annoying change in the display of sketches. I am attaching an image with the display of sketches of one part from Inventor 2023 to 2026 and also this part. The way sketches are displayed in Inventor 2024 is very important to us. ❗ Autodesk Inventor "Make Components" Auto Numbering: ❗ I was missing the functionality to automatically create Assembly Filename and the Component Filenames, when using the "Make Components Command" in Autodesk Inventor Software. 💡 I have automated this within a add in, by using a userinterface you are able to predefine the file-naming. 💡 Via a dialog-box with the following inputfields you create the setup: -AssemblyName -PartName Defined by: -Prefix which is filled in per default from the Assembly name, Which ca be modified later. -a delimiter via a dropdown menu -a numbering sequence -a second delimiter via a dropdown menu. -and a suffix The settings will be remembered when selecting another selection for making components. Also the numbering sequence will be remembered as the last number created. Gang...we are in process of bringing a group of users from Solid Works to Inventor and they have complained numerous times that it would be really nice if Inventor acted the same way when they were constraining components in an assembly. The feature they are talking about is after you make the first selection in for a constraint, the first component automatically turns transparent so that you can see thru the part to the other side. With Inventor, you have to guess where the geometry might be for the second set, Free move the part prior to constraining, or roll you mouse wheel or choose out of the drop done and fingers crossed you hovered in the correct location. This can be slow and has numerous additional clicks, that SW does not have.
