I would like the ability to derive a normal sketch in one part file, into another part file as a sketchblock, thus giving you the ability to place it anywhere in your sketch and not sharing a common origin.
I think skeletal modelling by deriving sketches into part files is very powerful, but it only works when all parts only belong to that assembly, i.e. they all have the same origin.
If somewhere in my assembly I need to connect to a standard flange of some type, which matches the flange on other standard components, I can use a derived sketchblock. The downside of sketchblocks is that they cannot contain any reference to another sketch, so therefore can't in itself be part of a skeletal model, and needs to be standalone.
If upon deriving any sketch, from any part file, I had a tickbox option to derive as a sketchblock I can then interface with other parts without needing a common origin for both, and this sketch can be part of it's own skeletal sketch with references to other sketches.
