The Dynamic Simulation input grapher currently allows the input of coefficients for a polynomial equation (for instance 6 coefficients can be entered for a 5th order polynomial). While this is mathematically sufficient, the best way to define the curve from a design point of view would be to enter the position (mm), velocity (mm per s) and acceleration (mm per s^2) for the start point and the end points of the curve. From a functional point of view this would then allow the user to match the adjacent segment position, velocities and accelerations to avoid shock/impulse loading at the start or end of a cam ramp for instance. This would enhance the usability of Dynamic Simulation. This functionality is typically available in other motion design packages.

Pretty self-explanatory from the title. I already use the BOM to edit P/N's but would like ability to rename/relocate files from within that environment rather than having to open Design Accelerator (which I always forget exists until after i've dealt with the headaches of moving/renaming files).

Hi there, It would be great if vault check-in dailouge box appeares on file closing. as an option or connect to perticular project or some how if there is an option like this, will be handy.

I need to model many parts that have drawing and designs that we created many years ago. Some of these have splines that are not on the selection list and I have no idea what the ANSI Spec is. I do know the pressure angle, the D+F, the base dia., the pitch(e.g. 6/8), the OD # of teeth and inspection dia. over a set of specified wire size. I know all this and I cannot model this spline. Also, these parts are made by "hobbing" which allows you to get very close to other features on the part. The spline tool only allows for lateral cutting of a spline with a specified cutter dia. If I find a spline in the spline tool that does match what I need, the "cutter" runs into the rest of the part. This is a real bummer!!!! I am also having problems with the preview of the spline appearing on the part but when I leave the spline tool it disappears off the part and I do not get any kind of error message. The other thing I do not understand is that any time I create a spline, I mist have a mating part, even if it is only a dummy. I am trying to model existing parts, not evaluate a new design.

Sometimes importing .wire from Alias, resulting surfaces are open or corrupted.

I think it could be interesting to show a dialog box, similar to 'Making Components', when you generate files on an iPart so that it gives you a choice to select your numbering scheme. Now you have to 'guess' your next available number and hope nobody uses it in between ...

I can not count the number of times I have heard an Autodesk employ or Autodesk Reseller use the following phrase. "Oh you are not following the correct workflow process" This may be more of a bitch fest but it is still a very valid comment. If there are specific "workflow" steps that should be followed do you think there could be some consistency in your so called workflow. I guess if I had to ask for one request it would have to be clean up the next release of this software before I through myself out the wiindow. If I had to go into everything that I have am issue with I would spend weeks writing this post. This is far from a Bata software so why are us Cad users the ones testing and finding problems. Should the billion dollor giant take on that task and stop supplying such a half assed product. I know if I did this I would not have a job for very long.

If there an option to load required ribbon setup accoiding to projects. it will be a very handy stuff for the designer. In Inventor 2014, customized ribbon is disappearing and a real pain to load every time... Just an Idea to Have a much better Inventor as User friendly..

I would like an extra option for all work geometry: It should be possible to create new work geometry and set it to Invisible automatically after cereation. After all, you can select it in the browser if you need it. And that option would save you the extra work to disable its visibility in each instance where you use it as a component in an assembly.

Bring ERP functionality directly into Inventor as opposed to through Vault. Vault functionality with SAP for example is good but Inventor functionality with SAP would be great.

While the idea of having multi character aliases seems to be nice at first glance, if I think about it that is rather unnecessary. For me the aliases are an important tool to speed up my work. E.g. typing “d“ starts the dimension command. Having to confirm the shortcut with an extra key stroke is kinda counter-productive. I would rather see only single character aliases. I am aware that there is a setting to use only single characters. However, in the last versions of Inventor the setting was occasionally ignored. And now with version 2014 it has gotten worse. After every program start I have to run to the settings and reset all keyboard commands to get my single character behaviour back. Rajko Schmidt

It would be great if there was an option to make all associated rev tags in your IDW become invisible when the rev line is made invisible. In our work flow it makes sense to make the old revs (pre-release) invisible in the Revision History table. This way so we can still have the history where it belongs without the clutter. But I have to manually find & delete all the old revs & it's very easy to miss a few tags, especially if there are a lot of them. Gary

Hi, After using Custom Profile for Frame Generator, we could not split Custom profile members and then merge on the same length automatically. Please add "enable row merge on The Same Length". Some customers need this. I'm not sure how many of you run into this, but here goes my idea.... We deal with pressure vessels so naturally our products are round. When you create a section view the sketch is projected so it knows if there is a center or not. As you all know, it will create either a vertical or horizontal constraint automatically when you create a Section view based off something round in the corresponding view. The issue is the section line is not symmetric on the part, or view. So it leads to sloppy lines IMO if not managed. Attached is a short video capture showing the workflow we typically go through just so we have a nice symmetric section line representations. That's a lot of steps we constantly do just to keep things tidy.

This happens to me all the time where I have a part or sub-assembly existing in an assembly and I decide to make it a factory file. When I make it back in the original assembly (where it is used) you can see the factory members, but you cannot change to them. Why? You end up having to replace the component with it's self in order to access the newly created factory components. I would like to see it possible so you don't have to go through this painful process.

Provide a means in Inventor for users to configure browser access to the on-line Inventor WikiHelp. Currently, if firewalls do not allow anonymous access to the hosting service (currently Amazon Web Services) for the Inventor WikiHelp, there is no recourse. If the application would allow configuring a proxy server for this purpose, users could access the most current help instead of waiting for the browser request to time out before reverting to the local static help file, if installed. I don't think this can be done, if I'm wrong please delete. Why can't a model/assembly be created as an iPart/iAssembly, set up a FEA simulation on the parent part, then let Inventor run a batch simulation over night on all the children. And produce reports so the results can be seen the next day. I don't think it would be necessary to create all the child parts, although that might be necessary.

Another sketcher issue (I cannot find a logical reason of current sketcher TRIM command). Let me explain. make a circle, draw a line fron the center of the circle at a given angle but longer than the circle radius, dimension the angle of the line and, say, the X axis. then TRIM the line up to the circle, the dimension IS LOST!!! SOLVE THIS! ans this is just a poor example. this behaviour occurs everytime you trim something what was previously dimensioned/constrained!

If a sheet is produced with a laser-machine, then normally it would become not 100% correct, because the laser has some tolerances. So it would be usefull if the dxf-file could be auto-corrected when exporting it with an user-defined value. For example if the user sets the value to 0,1mm, then the outside-geometry would be made smaller (=> minus 0,1mm) and the inside-geometry (holes, threads, etc.) would be made bigger (=> plus 0,1mm) In effect this is nothing else than the offset-function...
