From a Multi bodies Part to an Assembly

In Inventor 2014 you got rid of the option to import neutral files as an assembly.  Why?  I use this option a lot when importing vendor assemblies that need to move.  I usually get a .stp file from our vendors and import it as an assembly because they translated it from an assembly in their CAD system.  Now I have to import it as a multiple solid part and derive it or save as different parts and bring those parts into an assembly to be able to creat positional representations that are needed for things like hydraulic cylinders.  Bring this option back!!!!!!!!
