Would it be a major issue to add a find and replace text option to Design Assistant? I think that could be a big time saver for those of us users that work for companies that are not using Vault.
This is a functionality that has been in other similar programs since like 2010 and yet still eludes design assistant. Back in 2011 I switched back from SolidEdge to Inventor. The only thing that I've missed is SolidEdge's "Revision Manager". It was and is leagues ahead of Design Assistant. If I want to rename all files and simply add a prefix, suffix, etc, I could use "find and replace" to update all of them at once. With Design Assistant, I have to go through my 3000 ipt files and rename them one by one if I want to say add "Rev B" to the end of all file names. With Revision manger I could simply say Find ".PAR" and Replace with "-Rev B.PAR"
This seems like something so simple to be lacking. Can we please add it?
disclaimer: I dont use vault and do not have the design copy function. I am using the iLogic Design Copy now and it its extremely stiff and limited.
This can already be done. At least in Vault Workgroup 2020. I don't have access to Vault at the moment to create a screenshot. But I have used it a couple of times already. It's in the right panel where you'll find the new names, prefix, sufix and so on. Just do a RMB and you should find the option there.
@SBix26I am sorry, I was thinking about the Copy Design in Vault instead of the Design Assistant. I have been using vault in practially all companies I've worked for. So in my mind, I had guessed that most companies would use it as well esspecially since it's comes with the suite. But that side, I completely missunderstood the question you had posted.
This should have been already done by Autodesk. SolidEdge has it, Creo has it, I do not know for SolidWorks though. But, who knows, rumors are 2056 Invertor version might have it ...
