Derived Sketch Updating

Derived Sketch Updating

This method of deriving is a bit weird,  see video....

This 3d sketch contains Sketch-Points.

In case the sketch-points are derived from the base they will be represented correctly, for the first time.
And than it begins...

I add for example a "Work-Axis" and a "Work-Point" to some of those Sketch-Points, that are derived.

If Sketch-Points are removed from the base, they will not be deleted in the derived part.

Also you can see that if the derived point is used, for example in a "Work-Point" or "Work-Axis" or else what kind feature, the sketch will stay static as it was from the first/older derive.
So this means that "Sketch-Points" are never deleted from the derived part.

When points are not used in the derive part and removed in the base, they will become loose points in the 3d sketch.

All this is causing errors and is to my opinion not correct.

Could the Autodesk Team change this maybe and solved this soon.
Either give us a workaround for the moment....

Hi @johnsonshiue or @CGBenner

Do you have any idea how to solve or work-around this issue, because it is affection all our designs created with this method:

Hi,

I have found another issue with deriving and updating:

First Part:

In this base 2d sketch I have given the dimension 80 mm, between 2 sketch points.

Second Part:

This part is deriving the 2d sketch points from the first part.

This derived sketch is the base for 2 work planes.

If you measure the dimension between these work planes the dimension is correct 80 mm.

This is the same as in the Base 2d sketch, and therewith correct.

Third Part:

this part is deriving the 2 work planes from the second part.

If you measure the dimension between these work planes the dimension is 90 mm.

This is different from in the Base 2d sketch, and therewith incorrect. you see that the derive is not updated correctly.

In general

It seems that the update, now and then, only takes correct place when open the derive dialog box.

Now you see that the work plane jumps to the 80 mm dimension.

Please watch the movie for a better explanation.

I have studied a bit this afternoon and tried some ideas.

The following will for the moment maybe a workaround/trick, I think!

For the Third Part:

As you can see in the last step changing the 80 mm to 120 mm is the sketch updating correct if the sketch is also derived with the work planes.

This is the exact same sketch as where the work planes are based on in the second part.

Please watch the movie for a better explanation.
