Content Center Part Numbering Scheme

Content Center Part Numbering Scheme

For the Content Center part numbers I would like for each new CC file that is created, to be given the next available part number as defined by a custom numbering scheme that  is already defined in Vault.

As of now I use this method to predefine CC part numbers:

I gets me where I want, but why not use a numbering scheme from Vault?

We place our CC items "As Custom".  That triggers a PN request to Vault.  At that point our users can pick the correct PN scheme as pull the next number as the filename.

Note that we only use CC for structural steel shapes.

Yes, we do that too for structural profiles.
I was thinking more for fasteners.  I guess I should have made that clear in my first post.  🙂

A distinction must be made between "real" standard parts (screws, washers, keys, ball bearings) and semi-finished parts like L-, H-Shapes generated via CC.

Real Standards parts having a nomenclature that is given by the stands association and an Engineer should follow the rules. For semi finished parts like Beams, L-, H- xyz-Shapes or modified standards parts (Bolt with radial hole for instance), I'm agree with you ...
