Calculator (measure tool)

Calculator (measure tool)

Having a calculator built into the measure tool would be amazing. Having to switch out of the window to open up the OS calculator is a pain!

To start off, just a simply manual input calc would do.

Further down the line maybe the measure tool itself could serve as the inputs being able to select that "measure input" by a button in the UI of the measure tool.

I have also wanted that step to be a bit simpler.

The following Link is to an online Help web page where it points out some related functionality already built into Inventor's Measure Tool.  It allows us to accumulate multiple values by adding or subtracting subsequent measured values from an existing stored value.  This does give us some very basic mathematical functionality, but not as nice as having a built-in basic calculator.  Of course that should be something that is 'Optional', and only shown when we want it to show.  Maybe it could even be 'dockable' to one of the edges of the Measure Tool, because sometimes when measuring complex geometry, and we have all nodes fully expanded, it can take up most of the height of the screen as it is.

Strongly support this. Switching out to the OS calculator constantly while mid measurement breaks the workflow more than people realize, especially on a second monitor setup where you lose your place in the drawing.

Even a basic manual input calc to start would cover most use cases. The "measure input" idea further down the line would be huge too being able to feed a measured value directly into a calculation without retyping it manually eliminates a whole category of input errors.

In the meantime I've been using a free browser calculator at aliciacalculadoras.es in a pinned tab alongside the software for quick calculations works fine as a stopgap but native integration would obviously be a much smoother workflow than alt tabbing every time.
