Acad is a Draughting tool, yet has a good calculator built it.
Inv is a design tool and yet has no such tool.
We need a calculator that’s linked to the measuring tool, parameters and the output from such a tool can be entered into relevant dialogue boxes, such as constraints and dimensions.
In the E.U we have also got to provide C.E Marking, which means all the calculations MUST be done and presented.
We need to link Inv to a report, ideally Inv would produce that report.
I know there are report tools within Design Accelerators, but not every design is created within Design Accelerator.
Linking parameters to Excel via iLogic is one possibility. But Excel can struggle to produce great reports and it doesn’t handle the unit as well as Mathcad.
Mathcad is a very good starting point. It has some excellent features, but does seem a bit buggy/lumpy.
Word does have a Math(s) add-in, but I don’t know whether Inv can link with this.
We need something that will produce “back of a bearing box” calculations to get the design into the right area and then by adding text in between it will produce a presentable report.
Text Boxes in Word and Excel would work, but using the cells in Excel makes editing the report harder as the cell can’t be moved easily, text boxes can be dragged anywhere. This would make it a bit like Mathcad.
We need Adesk to start developing this for Inv, but as everybody has a different need and requires differing outcomes. So Adesk/Inv will need to consult extensively with users.
