Trying to cut a hole in a part from within an assembly is a nightmare. This is required, because there are times modification of parts in assemblies is physically necessary during the process of manufacture. The location of these features may be at strange alignments that are picked up from other parts or assemblies (ie; process of spotting a hole ). Inventor does not allow this because it does not permit 3D Sketches in assemblies & does not allow geometry projection in the assembly. This needs to be looked into.
