Add mass override to iParts

Add mass override to iParts

Want to have the ability to add a mass override to each member in an iPart. There are lots of iParts that are just meant to be a representation but you still want the mass to be correct.

It would be nice if you could just assign a custom column to be the "Mass" the same way you can for filename / colour.

To achieve this now I have an addin that makes a new material for each member and adjusts the density based on the volume and selected mass.

Been accepted 6 years and still not implemented.

As many have mentioned this is a major problem for parts you are publishing to content centre as there is no way to override the mass of different children in the factory.

I currently use a single line of iLogic, but this is a ridiculous work around. Why has this not been included if accepted?

I have tried several workarounds, and none appear to work when totaling up assembly mass or trying to display overwritten mass in a drawing parts list. I just get the inventor calculated mass for each iPart member. Would like to have this resolved.

This really needs to happen, it's a huge oversight in my opinion.

Does anyone knows if this has been implemented?

No it definitely hasn't.

Do you have any update about this?

This idea is not within the Top 300 (in votes) not yet implemented Ideas on this board. Enhancements to iParts have been prioritized lower than model states at this time. That is all I can share.

Why are they prioritized lower? I feel like so many more people use iParts and iFeatures etc. yet they are still left behind. Would be nice to see autodesk fix up all of their existing features before adding new stuff. Can't believe it's been this long (almost 8 years) since it was added to the ideas board. Whats the point.
