Hi All,
Anyone know how can i get custom Inventor Materials Library by default in Project Editor?
I already paste my custom library.adsklib in the design data folder (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\Design Data\Materials) but I always have to add manually to my current project.
Thanks in advance
Maria Manuela
You add the path to your project file under material libraries..
And then right click on it and set as "active"
Note all files must be closed to edit the project file..
select the material libraries section then press the + to add the location of your library.
Thanks for your help, but i know do that.
What i intend is when i create new project my library come by default and not have to add manually.

Don't think you can..
Why do you need to create so many projects that a few second manual entry process is an issue?
It is usually not a problem.
It is problem when we have a big working team with a lot of engineers and designers and we want to facilitate our work when we create projects.
All design data stored in one single location and if possible our customized data as default.

I don't understand..
You create one single project file (once) and save it in a network location and simply point each user to that project file when you set them up (by using the browse button in the projects dialog to open your project file).. which will already have all the information in it.. You don't recreate it for each user.. You simply open the one and all users use the same project file
But whatever your process is the point is still the same.. you can't default new project file creation to point to a non-autodesk standard material library..
Thats rigth but only in ONE PROJECT scenario. Its not the case.
Our customer create 1 project to each design job.
You know that we can have any number of projects to manage our work dont you?
Thanks anyway.

yes I do.. but personally I would never recommend that..
Its not really buying them anything.. especially if all design data is saved in the same location anyways..
I will always recommend 1 company = 1 project file
I suppose you "might" be able to copy and paste (and rename) projects in Windows explorer.. I would think that might do what you want..
But other than that.. what you want is just not possible.
Inventor IPJ files are really XML files.. Create a project template they way you want to then copy them to the project location. Then use Inventor to browse to it instead of actually creating the project in Inventor.

Expanding on what @Mark.Lancaster wrote, this is how we work, with a separate file for each project: copy the project folder template (which has a standard set of subfolders in it) to its project location, change the name of the top folder and the name of the .ipj file that is in the top folder, and we're finished (OK, not quite-- since we use Vault we also have to add the mapping to the Vault folder, but that's just pasting the name of the folder we just created/renamed).
Essentially, all of our individual project files are identical (with the exception of the Vault mapping). Most of us don't even know how to create a project using the Project Editor. The "template" .ipj file has the Frequently Used Subfolders defined, the Content Center libraries defined, and the Material & Appearance Libraries defined to our custom library. We never have to touch any of those unless we're doing something strange and dangerous.
