With crashes like this, I usually start to see if there is a Certified Driver for your graphic card. Here is a link to the Certified Driver finder.

Is this a new install? If so, it may not have installed properly, or needs a service pack or hotfix. Here is a link to where you can find service packs and hotfixes.

If neither of these help, I did hear of a scenario a few years ago where the graphic card driver prevented the program from launching.

Are there any errors when it closes? Does anything show up in the windows logs?
