Wrong Preview while Circular Pattern Inventor 2010.1

To get a circular pattern as shown in the attached pic we can use the Orientation "Fixed" and choose an appropriate Base Point.

This works well if the sketch of the patterned Feature is invisible (to see in this video until 0:50 min).

But if the sketch is visible during the pattern command we get a wrong preview. This seduces me to cancel the command and search what I'm doing wrong. However if I pick the OK button I get the correct result and all is fine. But the wrong preview is annoying.

Is this only here on me or can someone reproduce this behavior?

Hello @j.palmeL29YX,

Assume you are talking about 2020.1, just checked in my end with a newly created part, it seems not able to reproduce it.

video: https://autode.sk/32y8x2B

Would you mind to share the data to me or post here for more investigation?

Hope it helps!

Thanks for your quick response.

In the meantime I found that the problem occures if the sketch of the patterned feature is not parallel to the XY-plane of the part.

In my example above I sketched in (or parallel to) the XZ-plane. You sketched in the XY-plane.

Additional now I tried this: Sketch a rectangle in the XY-plane, rotate it to a cylinder. Now sketch on one of the end sides of the cylinder a new rectangle, extrude it and try to pattern (fixed) this extrusion. You will get the same strange behavior as described above

Can you confirm this?

Hi Jürgen,

I am able to reproduce the preview issue.  For me the behavior is inconsistent – the preview is often wrong but sometimes is correct, even with the sketch visible.  I see incorrect preview with a sketch in the XY-plane as well (sometimes!)

I will create a bug to track this.

Thank you for reporting the issue.

Tom
