Wrapping Extruded Text

Wrapping Extruded Text

When I create a sketch with text, the text wraps around inside the text box I created (1st attachment).  When I extrude that text it flat lines extending the text off to the left and right of the part (2nd attachment).

How do I make the extruded text wrap like the sketch so all the text stays on the part?

Just simplify add linefeed in your sentence, check out the sample file which was built in Inventor 2018 and hope it helps!

Hello Xun.Zhang,

I have Inventor 2017 and I get a message saying I need a compatibility pack to open your file.  Is linefeed a feature in Inventor 2017?  Where do I get the compatibility pack?

Ah, I see.  I just hit enter at the end of the line and it automatically wraps to the next line even when the text is extruded.

Hi @Anonymous,

Compatibility pack is allow you to open future version files, you have to upgrade Inventor to 2017.4 at least and the compatibility pack was installed automatically

Anyway, here is the 2017 file. Open it and edit the sketch and edit the text, you will find that those text are in different line.

Hope it helps!

Another way to control word wrap in sketch text is to turn on the Text Box feature.  This changes from an insertion point to a rectangular construction line box around the text, which can then be precisely controlled by dimensions and constraints.

The Text Box is turned on/off either by right clicking the text, or by the control button in the text editor dialog:
