Workplane adaptive issue

Hi,

I have been having update adaptive problem for the workplanes in this taper duct. I've attached the assembly. the "skel part" is a taper box which i use to place workplane and do each sheet metal of the duct. But when i change dimensions of the "skel" part the workplane in each of the parts do not follow the altered surface. When you'll open the assembly you will see that each sheet metal side or not flat on the skel part. the first workplane should follow. But i've been having to manually redefine each workplane, causing alot of problems to each parts.

Hi! I took a quick look at the assembly but I don't know how to reproduce the issue. The adaptive relationship in this assembly is quite intertwined. It seems to me that some of the parts have mutually adaptive relationship. This can create an adaptive cycle. Could you elaborate on which adaptive part misbehaves?

Many thanks!

The first workplanes for  xx-part1, 2, 3, and 4, (workplane3 and 4), should be adaptive to each side of the part "skel.ipt". Once those 4 workplanes follow the surface like it should everything else falls back into place.

Ignore all other parts, what i wish to achieve is, 4 parts places on 4 surfaces from a adaptive workplanes that follow surfaces of the main part skel.ipt.

Or use the sketch in the loft of the part shel.ipt to change its shape. Then part 1 to 4 should follow surface.

Ok i've made a much simpler model, see attached. And i also made a screencast. As you change the skel dimension i can't seem to find how to have the sheet metal face follow the surface of the "skel" part.

Hi! I took a quick look and I think I have found where the problem is. There are a few things I would do differently. 1) The first part should be grounded. 2) Under Work Plane 5, Mate:4 seems to be redundant. If it is suppressed, it will work. Could you try it and see if it works for you?

Many thanks!

That is odd,  when you create a workplane it creates the mate constraint and the angle. make sense if you want the workplane to keep being mated to the surface. But per your instructions if you supress this mate constraint. The workplane still follows the surface.??

Hi! I don't think I fully understand your design intent. Assembly work geometry is more like a component. It is attached to a component with assembly constraint instead of feature dependency.

Are you confirming the behavior I am seeing?

Many thanks!
