working window won't maximize

Is there a fix for the bug that won't allow the working window to maximize? I often have multiple windows open and typically the top screen fills the whole area. Recently the top window restored down to a half screen by itself and now the maximize window button doesn't work. You can see the screen stretch to max then restores down again instantly. It is very aggravating to expand the window as far as I can manually every time I open a new drawing. Any one else having this issue or know a fix? I have restarted my computer and Inventor several times with no change. I wasn't changing any options just switching between windows when the issue occurred.

Nevermind, I found another thread with the same issue and a fix. Working great now! Here is solution:

Edit Registry :- HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Autodesk / Inventor /
RegistryVersion 6.0 / System / Preferences / Window /
MaximizeChildWindows - Value = 1

Can you give a little more detail, please?  I'm guessing that by "working window" you mean one specific file window open in the graphics area?

What version of Inventor are you using?  The fix you posted shows version 6, which was introduced in late 2002.  The registry key still exists in version 19 (2015) but there's one missing piece in your registry key: /Software/ goes before /Autodesk/.

Yes, not the main window but the working level window. I am running Inventor 2015 and changing the same "MaximizeChildWindows" registry number to 1 still fixed the problem but you do have to go to Software folder before Autodesk. If I ever hit the restore down button on my working window it gets stuck and I have to go back and change the registry again. When it gets stuck, if I open multiple drawings the working window progressively gets smaller and smaller but can stretch manually just never maximize until I change the registry.

Strange! Do you have other users with the same issue?  Or other login accounts on your computer with the same issue?

We have 7 stations actively using Inventor. 1 other one has the same issue and the other 5 will allow you to restore down your individual file windows and still go back to Maximum. It is strange, this problem manifested not long after we went to solid state hard drives on our stations and clean installs of operating system along with Inventor.

Even more strange here. first part is exactly like you've described in your post. Additional: This only applies if Inv application window is maximized. If the main applic. window is in "manual resize mode" (don't know the correct term) i can maximize the part's window. Very odd. Even more, since your fix isn't working here 😞 Any ideas somebody?

I have the exact same issue. Didn't know the working window would maximize if Inventor isn't maximized but yeah, I have the same thing! Very weird. Using Inventor 2019 on subscription.

Hi! Have you installed all critical Windows updates, the latest graphics driver, and 2019.3 update?

Many thanks!
