Working from inventor 2016 to inventor 2015

Im trying to find a way to open a point cloud scan saved as a 2016 Inventor .ipt file, in 2015 Inventor. I can not save it as a step file as there are no solids only a point cloud of a 3D scan. Anyone able to help?
