Why does Inventor keep changing my settings and acting up randomly?

It frequently and randomly disables (or forgets about it?!) the "select other..." thing when hovering over parts in assemblies.

It resets my settings of "do not skip unresolved parts" and all of a sudden things open up (silently and without warning) with missing things.

When switching between assemblies, it changes the default selection priority from components to volumes or sometimes even edges!

Keeps resizing the model browser side panel, oh and the measure tool panel too.

And couple other things. Randomly. Since ages.

Why is this happening?! It's driving me crazy since a long time.

2018.3.4 (but it's been happening with many earlier versions as well.)

Try Inventor reset utility, in the start program menu, the irony is you will loose all your settings though.

Hi! I have not heard this behavior before. Is it possible there is a system process cleaning up your profile data after you log out or at certain time of the day?

Nope.

Some of these (for example the random changing of selection priority when switching between models) returns to normal (for a while) after inv restart, but others don't. (Those that are application settings, e.g. skipping of unresolved files, etc. - That one happens so frequently that I wrote a macro that resets those settings when they change themselves.)

I've also been noticing the "skip resolved" option being changed along with the save reminder being turned on when it was disabled. Doesn't seem to be any cause to the settings changing.

Hi Guys,

Regarding Skip Resolve, I recalled there was a change in default in 2018 or 2017. You can change it back by going to the following setting.

Tools -> Application Options -> File -> File Open. There you can configure the default file open or insert behavior (skip resolve and design view). After you make the change, the behavior should be persistent based on the option. It should never deviate from the setting. Otherwise, there is a bug and I need to see the steps to reproduce the behaviors.

Not sure if there's a correlation, but I think I observed that the skip resolve settings change most frequently after I pull in something from an external app (i.e. drag'n' drop from Explorer or Total Commander.)

I could reproduce it this way yesterday, but only once. So not a surefire way to test.
