when dimensioning is there a setting to put you into the dialog box

i was spoiled with 2016, new job uses 2012... so with that said, is there a setting that when dimensioning geometry it puts you right into the dialog box exactly how version 2016 does it, or is there a setting that im missing that turns it off and on?

Are you talking about when you place a dim in an idw?  Look under tools >App options, Drawing tab.  Check the "Edit dim when created".  Does that do it for you?

I think this is what you're talking about:  Tools > Application Options > Sketch tab

There is also a setting on the Drawing tab for dimensioning in the drawing environment.

It's been a while since IV2012 around our office, but try: Application Options dialogue/Drawing tab/"Edit Dimension When Created" checkbox, or wheresoever you may find it.
