whats the difference between exporting idw to a dxf or a dwg

hope all are safe

 

was exporting idw to dwg boss is old school where is model space stuff

so found out how to dxf because we send to shop to laser cut ok cool

found out you can export to a dwg also with save as . comparing both whats the difference if I dxf or dwg

The .dxf file type contains a subset of the information found within a .dwg file. A .dwg file contains all of the information used to create and edit the drawing, whereas the .dxf only contains information such as lines, text, and dimensions.

 

Sending either format to the shop to laser cut will work, as long as the CAM program you are using can accept both file types.

You'll find dxf files are larger than AutoCAD dwg files.
